The Lahore Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Australian test cricketer Matthew Hayden as head coach of the national team for the T20 World Cup. According to the details, a meeting of the Governing Board was held at the National Center for High Performance for the election of the president of the PCB. Judge (retired) Sheikh Azmat Saeed called a meeting. The meeting was attended by Javed Qureshi, Rameez Raja and Wasim Khan.
The governing board is made up of 4 independent members, 2 representatives of the Employer, 3 elected provincial representatives and the chief executive, however, due to the incomplete election process of the provincial association, no member participated. Rameez Raja was elected unopposed as president of the PCB. Rameez Raja is the 36th president of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the fourth former cricketer to become president of the PCB. Previously, Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Javed Burki and Ejaz Butt were the chairmen of the board.,
Speaking after being elected president of the PCB, Rameez Raja said: “My aim is to give the Pakistani cricket team the right direction. I want Pakistan to be so strong that it can once again rank among the most dangerous teams in the world.” “I want to make Pakistani cricket a great brand in the world, we have to support the team and give it all the support and facilities.”
Later during a press conference, Rameez Raja announced that former Australian starter Matthew Hayden and former South African pacemaker Vernon Flanders have been hired as bowling coaches for the T20 World Cup. Newly elected PCB President Rameez Raja will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Rameez Raja, 59, was part of the team that won the 1992 World Cup. Rameez Raja was also the captain of the national cricket team. He scored 2,833 runs in 57 test matches between 1984 and 1997, while he scored 5,841 runs in 198 ODI with the help of 9 centuries. Rameez Raja also made a name for himself in the comment field. Rameez Raja’s older brother, Wasim Hassan Raja, was also a test cricketer who played test cricket with Imran Khan.
